Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live . . . I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ. You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ. Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you. (Galatians 1:4–8, nlt)
Lord Jesus, you gave your life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world we live in. And Lord, the Good News is that we can receive that salvation by faith in you alone, with nothing added. Forgive us for ever even implying that there is something we must do in order to earn your free gift. Forgive us Lord, for the tendency to think we can, in any way, add any requirement to the salvation you have freely offered us by faith alone.
Help us Lord, to never turn away from this single and simple Gospel message. Protect us Lord, and give us discernment to see through anyone’s attempts to add any kind of work requirement to the full price you have already paid to redeem us. Lord Jesus, we love you in response to you first loving us. We follow and serve you in response to the immeasurable and free gift of salvation you have given us completely by faith. We commit again today to stand in the grace we have freely received by faith, and not be moved by man’s attempts to twist this amazingly simple truth of our salvation. Thank you Jesus, for your amazing grace that saves wretched sinners by faith. Thank you for saving this wretched sinner by my faith in you alone. Thank you Jesus. In your name and for your sake, amen.
